Cellulitis: Causes, Symptoms & Treatments

Bacteria

Cellulitis is a bacterial infection which is mostly caused by Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus type A. While those are two most common strains, some other forms of bacteria would also trigger the condition. Cultures and blood test are necessary to determine the exact cause that is leading to cellulitis. Keep in mind that Staphylococcus aureus can resist antibiotics, so oral drugs won’t work and you have to be injected intravenously. Early treatments are important to prevent life-threatening complications. Also, avoid those areas that would be at higher risks of bacterial infections, such as a public pool or dirty places. [2]
