Other Risk Factors
In addition to these main causes, there are some other risk factors of basal cell carcinoma, including body traits, race, and skin tones. Those people with fair skin tend to be at higher risk since their levels of the pigment melanin, which helps protect against harmful rays from sunlight, can be lower than those with darker tones. As for ethnicity, more cases occur in white than in black communities. However, the mortality rate is higher in blacks. Last but not least, some body features would make you more vulnerable, such as blond or red hair, blue or green eyes, easily burned skin, poorly tanned skin, or freckles. [7]
