Long-Term Outlook
The long-term outlook for people with AMML may be explained by 5-year survival rates. In general, it refers to the percentage of patients who still live at least 5 years after initial diagnosis. Keep in mind that these numbers are only estimations. They will not indicate precisely what would occur in your particular situation. The survival chances of a person depend on the phases at diagnosis and form of cancer. General health and age are also important factors. It is estimated that the overall 5-year survival rate for patients with all forms of AML, including AMML, is around 29.5 percent. These figures might be lower or higher, depending on the mutations involved and the subtype. Older patients tend to have a poorer prognosis than younger people. [10]
