Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORT)

A cheap, simple and effective method of treating dehydration caused by diarrhea is by administering the Oral Rehydration Therapy. Oral rehydration helps to replace the fluids and salts that have been lost in the body. Oral Rehydration Therapy can be done without the help of any doctor. You can use the homemade ingredients at home or get Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) and prepare it yourself. For a do-it-yourself solution, mix ½ teaspoon of salt and six teaspoons of sugar in very clean water. If you think you do not have enough time for this, you can get a sachet of ORS, then mix in 1 liter of drinking water. [4]
