Cold Packs
Applying a cold compressor pack would be helpful in relieving inflammation and itching in hives. It works by cooling your skin and constricting blood flows, thus preventing histamine from triggering hives. Just take a cotton towel and soak in cool water before place it on the affected areas. Do this for around 10 minutes every 2 hours until you feel relieved? Avoid very cold water as it might worsen the hives in many people. Hot and warm compresses might provide temporary relief, but they would make the condition worse. [4]
