10 Common Symptoms of Bursitis

Redness

When you suffer bursitis, it is possible for the affected area to become red. It is one of the symptoms of bursitis which accompany swelling. This is because when inflammation occurs in a joint, the small branches of arteries enlarge when supplying blood to the damaged region, which results in increased blood flow. The capillaries in that area also become easier for fluid to infiltrate and as a result, they (the capillaries) are filled with more blood than usual. This reddens the skin surrounding the affected area. You can also use an ice pack to manage this symptom. [2]
