Macular Degeneration
The macula is a region in the center of the retina. It contains the fovea in its middle, which is the point of acute vision. This explains why tampering with this area should lead to blurred vision. Macular degeneration is of two types, “wet” and “dry”. The wet type is associated with blurred vision. It occurs when fluid, such as blood, leak into the macula to shade the normal reception of light. According to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, only 15 percent of people with macular degeneration have the wet type. [2]
