What to Expect During a C-Reactive Protein Test
During a C-reactive protein test, your doctor will get a blood sample from a vein, typically on the back of the hand or on the inside of the elbow. Detailed steps are as follow:
– Clean the skin with antiseptic
– Wrap an elastic band around the arm to make the veins bulge out
– A small, thin needle is inserted into the vein
– Blood is collected into a sterile vial
– The needle and elastic band is removed
– A bandage or tape may be used to keep the gauze in place
The blood sample is then sent to the lab for further analysis. [5]
