Exposure to Sunlight
Vitamin D is usually called “the sunshine vitamin” as the sun is among the best sources of this component. When ultraviolet B radiation from the sun strikes the skin, your body will start to synthesize vitamin D to fuel your body. Thus, it is important to spend time exposing to sunlight daily to ensure a sufficient intake of this nutrient. People with dark complexions should spend more time than those with light tones. Similarly, older adults should also go outdoors more frequently as age would also affect the production and absorption of the vitamin in the body. [7]
