Medicare Part B
Medicare part B pays for preventive services, outpatient care, and doctor’s appointments. Certain non-participating doctors might bill you directly instead of filing a Medicare claim for services. When choosing a doctor, make sure Medicare assignment is accepted. A nonparticipating provider would ask for a filed claim and upfront amount from you. This part of Medicare does not cover services in other countries except an emergency or other special conditions, which are determined based on an individual basis after a claim submission. Medicare will cover services on board ships in injury cases or medical emergencies. You would file a claim when you are too far away from a facility in the US and when the foreign provider is authorized to practice in the US. [3]
