Can You Combine Sunscreen with Olive Oil?
It is advisable to apply a sunscreen with an SPF at least 30 before you go out and tan in the sun. However, avoid mixing olive oil and these chemical-based products. Sunscreen may contain certain active ingredients, such as octocrylene, octisalate, homosalate, and ovobenzone. These components should be absorbed fully into the skin to be effective. Applying olive oil would create a skin barrier that may prevent them from penetrating the skin and functioning properly. Instead, it may be safer to combine olive oil and mineral sunscreen.
