Bed-Sharing with Baby – the Risks and Benefits

Cultural Differences in Bed-Sharing with Baby

The practice of bed-sharing can vary from culture to culture around the world. In some countries, parents only share the bedroom with their babies, but not the same bed. In Western cultures, bed-sharing has become the norm in many families. Researchers have also found a difference in how bed-sharing is accepted. In general, this practice is more common in collectivist countries, such as in Asia, which means they value the benefits of the group more than the individuals, than in those countries in the West where individuals are more important than the group as a whole.
