C-reactive Protein Test
C-reactive protein or CRP is produced by the liver when its tissues get inflamed. A high level of this substance suggests inflammation caused by lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, IBD, infection, or artery inflammation. The higher the results of a C-reactive protein test, the higher the risks of heart disease. Here is a guideline for reference:
– Low risk: less than 1 mg/L
– Intermediate risk: 1 to 2.9 mg/L
– High risk: more than 3 mg/L
– Extremely high risk: more than 10 mg/L [9]
