Various benefits are inherent in flaxseeds that may help prevent cardiovascular diseases. One of this is the high omega-3 fatty acids content; this helps to prevent the hardening of the arteries, also omega-3 fatty acids help to maintain the rhythm of the heart, and it helps in treating an irregular heartbeat. Furthermore, by lowering cholesterol (especially the bad cholesterol), it leads to a reduction in the possibility of cardiovascular diseases. Flax seeds also have blood pressure-lowering abilities even though this has not been scientifically proven; some studies have suggested this. [9]
