Low Weight
Compared to normal children, infants with Williams syndrome tend to have a lower weight at birth. However, this discrepancy can be insignificant to diagnose the condition. During the first few years of life, they might gain weight very slowly. This issue has been associated with tactile defensiveness, poor swallow or suck, serious gag reflex, and low muscle tone. In addition, it can be harder for parents to feed young children and kids with this disorder. Symptoms can improve with age, but these people tend to have smaller stature than average. [6]
