Causes of Vascular Dementia
The most common cause of vascular dementia is stroke. When this condition occurs, the brain might be cut back on oxygen and blood for a short period. This leads to temporary or even damage to certain brain areas. A heart attack would cause a lack of blood and oxygen as well. A blood clot might even prevent proper blood flow. Some other common causes of this health issue include chronic damage to blood vessels as well as narrowed blood vessels.[3]
