Symptoms of Chronic Bronchitis
After an extended period of irritation and inflammation in the bronchial tubes, the condition would lead to a few typical symptoms. The most typical sign is a heavy and persistent cough that would bring up mucus from your lungs. The color of the mucus can vary, from white to green and yellow. If left untreated, the production of mucus tends to increase over time and build up in your bronchial tubes. This reduces airflow and causes many breathing issues. During this period, doing physical activities could make you feel shortness of breath or wheezing.
Other possible symptoms of chronic bronchitis include bad breath, sinus congestion, chest discomfort, chills, fever, or fatigue. In more serious cases, the lips and skin might have a bluish color because of a lack of blood oxygen. Low oxygen levels could also cause swelling in your ankles and legs, also known as edema.
