Organ Symptoms of Caudal Regression Syndrome
When caudal regression syndrome affects internal systems, the following symptoms may happen:
– Constipation, which means fewer than three bowel movements per week
– A lack of bowel or bladder control
– Blocked anal opening, also known as imperforate anus
– Frequent infections of the urinary tract
– Kidney failure due to fused kidneys, a missing kidney, or abnormally shaped kidneys
– Bladder exstrophy, which causes the bladder to come out of an opening in the abdominal wall
– Ureteral duplication, which causes more tubes than usual to take urine to the bladder from the kidneys
– Problems with the reproductive organs: hypospadias, cryptorchidism, rectovaginal fistula, or genital agenesis
– Congenital heart conditions
– Twisting of the large intestine [4]
