Subchorionic Hematoma
A subchorionic hematoma occurs when blood accumulates around the chorion. You may also notice bleeding between the placenta and uterus. This is the most common cause of spotting during the first trimester. Many women with this problem do not have any other complications during the whole pregnancy.
