Prevention of Urinary Tract Infection
Urinary tract infection is painful and annoying. Though antibiotics could help alleviate the symptoms, the disease could keep coming back. There are some approaches you could take to prevent urinary tract infections.
-Drink Plenty of Water
It is the most natural way to prevent recurring urinary tract infections. Two to three liters of water is ideal for an adult’s daily consumption.
-Urinate after Sexual Intercourse
Sexual intercourse introduces bacteria into the urethra. Emptying your bladder immediately after sex could help flush bacteria out through urinating, therefore, lower your risk of urinary tract infection.
-Avoid Using Diaphragms
A diaphragm is a small rubber cup with spermicide added used to prevent pregnancy. It is often linked to urinary tract infections. The spermicide could change the PH level in the vagina and contribute to bacterial build-up. It is suggested to rethink your birth control method and change it to other alternatives such as pill or IUD.
-Wipe from Front to Back
Wiping from front to back after a bowel movement could help take bacteria hanging around the anus away and prevent bacteria from reaching your urethra. [5]
