Glycerol Injection
During a glycerol injection, the surgeon will place a needle into an opening in the skull through the face. This tool will be guided into a small sac of spinal fluid called trigeminal cistern, which separates the trigeminal nerve into three branches. After that, sterile glycerol will be injected to restrict pain signals and damaged the trigeminal nerve. This treatment can help alleviate pain. Nevertheless, certain patients might have a recurrence and facial tingling or numbness later. [7]
