Diet
Many foods and drinks in your daily diet might trigger symptoms of hives. For example, foods loaded with vasoactive amines would cause the release of histamines and lead to hives. These include chocolate, strawberries, pineapple, tomatoes, fish, and shellfish. Salicylates-containing foods such as tea, spices, orange juice, raspberries, and tomatoes would also bring the same effects. Some other common allergens to avoid include alcohol, caffeinated beverages, milk, cheese, eggs, tree nuts, and peanuts. The rashes might break out immediately or develop after a few hours. Either way, make sure to visit your healthcare provider to rule out food allergies. This can be achieved with an elimination diet in which your doctor will add one possibly triggering food each week until he or she finds out the exact cause. [4]
