Testicular Trauma: Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment and More

Why Does Testicular Trauma Occur?

Testicular trauma is not uncommon. The testicles are especially prone to injuries in physically active people. It is mainly because the testicles hang outside of the body in the scrotum. Unlike other parts, these organs are not protected by any muscles or bones. In addition, the location of testicles puts them at higher risk of being struck or hit during work or sport. Despite their sensitivity, testicles may absorb most force without permanent damage since they are comprised of spongy materials and attached loosely to the body. Therefore, minor trauma may not have any long-term effect on sperm production and sexual function. [4]
