Symptoms of an Arterial Ulcer

Ischemic or arterial ulcers mainly occur on the outside of the heels, toes, feet, and ankle. Damage to the arteries because of a lack of blood to tissue is often the main cause. Common symptoms include leg pain, hairless skin, no bleeding, and black or red sores. It may take a few months for these sores to heal. Depending on the underlying cause, there are many treatment options to help restore blood circulation. In more serious cases, surgery is needed to increase blood flow to organs and tissues. [4]
