In some rare cases, you might get a staph infection after undergoing surgery. This is mainly because some medical tools or equipment can be infected with bacteria from other patients. However, keep in mind that this can be very rare because hospitals and healthcare centers often sanitize and clean medical tools carefully after each operation. If you often abuse some injected drugs like opioids, then you might also be at a higher risk of staph infection, particularly when you share needles.
