Rare Symptoms
In addition to common symptoms, some people with spinal muscular atrophy can experience some other effects, such as bedsores, distal muscle weakness, respiratory infections, tremors, difficulty swallowing, or muscle pain. Some children can experience episodes of anxiety or sadness due to impaired mobility. In addition, the condition can affect bladder and bowel function in more advanced cases. You might have trouble controlling these organs because of impaired skeletal muscles. Constipation is not uncommon, particularly when spinal muscular atrophy affects walking capability. [2]
