Sinus Arrhythmia – 10 Facts to Know

Two Types of Sinus Arrhythmia

In some cases, sinus arrhythmia happens with bradycardia or a slow heartbeat. It is diagnosed when the natural rhythm of your heart drops below 60 beats per minute. When your low heart rate has lengthy pauses between beats, then you might have sinus arrhythmia with bradycardia. These pauses would be common when you are sleeping.

Another form of sinus arrhythmia is tachycardia. It happens when the heart beats too fast, above 100 beats per minute. Some common triggers include medications, exercise, pain, fever, and stress.

In young and healthy people, these types of sinus arrhythmia are often benign and do not cause any serious problems. Some people would experience shortness of breath or lightheadedness, but others might not have any symptoms. [2]
