Otomycosis – Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Ear Discharge

Another typical symptom of otomycosis that you should notice is ear discharge. Unlike usual discharge, a fungal infection can make your discharge become thicker. It can be clear, yellow, or white in color. In some serious cases when the fungi thrive, you can have foul-smelling or bloody discharge. You should not confuse this with the usual waxy buildup. A simple way to check is to swab the ear with a Q-Tip. Make sure to be careful and avoid inserting the tip into the ear canal. There would be a usual amount of waxy accumulation. However, if the color or amount seems off, it can be a sign of a fungal infection inside your ear. [5]
