SSRI
SSRI or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are the most common types of antidepressants. They could help alleviate signs of severe or moderate depression caused by obsessive-compulsive disorder. These drugs are quite safe and lead to fewer side effects than other options. SSRIs can increase serotonin levels in the brain. These neurotransmitters or chemical messengers would carry signals between your brain cells and relieve some symptoms of anxiety or depression. Some common SSRIs include fluoxetine, clomipramine, paroxetine hydrochloride, fluvoxamine, escitalopram, citalopram, or sertraline. They are often taken in high doses and it often takes around 3 months to have results. [14]
