Multiple Myeloma – Stages and Prognosis

Stage 3

Stage 3 is the final stage in multiple myeloma. During this period, the number of myeloma cells is highest, which leads to many aggressive activities in the body. There are more and more severe effects on different body parts. The most adversely affected organs might be bones (bone tissue destruction or bone tumors) and kidneys. The levels of calcium in the blood tend to be high, while the level of hemoglobin is often below 8.5 g/dl. The life span or survival rate for people with multiple myeloma in this stage is quite low, often around 3 to 4 years. [6]
