Blood Transfusion
The parasites which cause malaria mainly infect your liver and red blood cells. Thus, people would suffer from this disease after being exposed to infected or contaminated blood from other people. Some common causes include sharing needles for injected drugs or blood transfusions. The transfer of infected blood cells would allow the parasites to grow inside the recipients’ bodies. People who lose a lot of blood due to injuries or those with hemophiliacs are often at higher risks of malaria from a blood transfusion, especially when they live in Asia or Africa. However, malaria isn’t a sexually transmitted disease or STD. [2]
