Lung Cancer – Stages And Treatment Options

Treatment Options for Lung Cancer

Surgery

The main goal of surgery in treating lung cancer is to remove the tumor and surrounding healthy tissue. Common options include pneumonectomy to detach the whole lung, lobectomy to detach the whole lobe of a lung, segmental resection to detach a large part of the lung, and wedge resection to detach a small part of the lung. During this procedure, the doctor would remove lymph nodes from the chests to look for possible signs of lung cancer.[4]
