Hip Bursitis Symptoms

Weakened Muscles

If left untreated, the inflammation may cause the bursa to become thicker over time. It would worsen swelling and weaken muscles in the area. This condition is also known as atrophy. Muscle weakness, along with pain and swelling, would make it much more challenging to move some body parts. With fewer movements, it would worsen your symptoms further. Therefore, make sure to visit your healthcare provider as soon as possible to get medical attention. [7]

More Severe Symptoms

In more severe cases, hip bursitis could become a medical emergency and need prompt treatment. Make sure to visit your healthcare provider or the emergency department if you notice one or more of the following symptoms:

– Running a severe or persistent fever

– Having severe bruises, rashes, or swelling

– Being unable to move the joints due to stiffness

– Experiencing unbearable pain that makes it nearly impossible to move

– Experiencing shooting or sharp pain, particularly when you exert yourself or doing exercises

If left ignored, hip bursitis may cause further complications that can be dangerous and require more time for treatments.[8]
