Vomiting
When a hiatal hernia affects the intestine, it would block or change the food flows through the digestive system. This might lead to an intestinal backup that causes vomiting and nausea. When the intestine is not blocked fully, you might just have mild signs, like decreased appetite or nausea without vomiting. In some cases, the acidic contents in the stomach can reach the top of the esophagus, which leaves a bitter taste in the mouth and makes you throw up foods. [4]
