Causes of Scabies
Scabies is caused by an infestation of mites. Those bugs are extremely small that it is impossible to see them on the skin. The mites would go deep into the top layer to feed and live. Female mites can even lay eggs. When the skin reacts to the waste and mites, you will suffer from an itchy, red rash. The mites could be spread via skin-to-skin contact and infected bedding, clothes, or furniture. That’s why infestations can easily spread in extended-care facilities or nursing homes. [4]
