Many cognitive exams can be used to confirm the presence of dementia. The main goal is to evaluate your cognitive or thinking function, which can be affected by dementia. In addition, the test can check for your attention, language skills, judgment, reasoning, orientation, or memory. For instance, the doctor would ask you to tell the current year, month, or day. You might also be asked to draw a clock at seventeen past nine or count forwards from 5 to 20.
