Long-Term Outlook for People with De Novo Metastatic Breast Cancer
There is currently no cure for de novo metastatic breast cancer. However, some new treatments have been introduced to improve the survival rates. A study has shown the following statistics:
– 28% lived for at least five years after being diagnosed
– 45% lived for at least three years after being diagnosed
– 75% lived for at least one year after being diagnosed
A small portion of women with de novo metastatic breast cancer may live for up to ten years or even more. Those people with recurrent metastatic breast cancer may have lower survival rates than those with de novo type. More research is being implemented to diagnose the condition earlier and find out the best treatments. [9]
