Risk factors for narcissism are relatively complicated. In general, the disorder is associated with a number of factors, including genetics, parenting, environmental elements, and various combinations of them. It is important to note that narcissism affects more men than women, and it usually occurs during early adulthood or in teenagers. Keep in mind that some kids may show some traits of narcissism. However, this does not necessarily mean that they have narcissism, but these are simply typical characteristics of their age. While the exact cause of narcissism is still not fully clear, some scientists that neurobiology and genetics may make some children more vulnerable. With some styles of parenting, these individuals may develop the disorder later in life. [8]
