Scope Tests
When lung function tests and imaging techniques cannot find the cause for your chronic cough, some special scope tests might be suggested. Two common options include:
– Rhinoscopy: This procedure uses a rhinoscope, a fiberoptic scope, to exam the upper airway, sinuses, and nasal passageways.
– Bronchoscopy: A flexible, thin tube with a camera and light called a bronchoscope is used to exam the air passages and lungs. Also, your doctor would take a biopsy from the airway lining to detect any abnormalities. [3]
