Draining the Bursa
If it seems all treatments have failed, you can also try this one because the more the fluids in the bursae build up, the more the swelling and the more severe the pains it causes. Your doctor will puncture the bursae with a hollow needle and drain out the built-up fluid. However, this treatment cannot offer a permanent solution to bursitis because as the bursa is punctured to draw out fluids, immediately, more fluids fill into the sac again no matter the number of times the puncturing is done. It is not even advisable to continue puncturing as this act will only expose the sac to bacterial infections.
