Nail Fungus
Nail fungus may lead to changes to the fingernail and cause pain when you apply pressure on it. You would contract fungus in moist, wet environments. In addition to pain, the nail would become flaky, thinner, thicker, or discolored. If left untreated, the fungus may grow and worsen the pain over time. Some home remedies or OTC treatments can be used for nail fungi, such as vapor rub, vinegar, oregano oil, or tea tree oil. If the symptoms do not improve, your doctor would prescribe an oral antifungal or potent topical antifungal. In some cases, the affected fingernail may be removed completely. [6]
