Choledocholithiasis Diagnosis
To diagnose choledocholithiasis, your doctor would suggest one of the following tests:
– A CT scan in the abdominal area
– Transabdominal ultrasound: This procedure uses high-frequency sound waves to check the pancreas, kidneys, spleen, gallbladder, and liver
– Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography: It can help find out tumors, stones, or narrowed bile ducts.
– Endoscopic ultrasound: The doctor will insert an ultrasound probe to your moth to examine your digestive tract.
– Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography: This can be done in the pancreatic duct, bile ducts, or gallbladder.
In addition, one of the following tests can be done to check for pancreas and liver function or signs of infection: bilirubin, liver function test, pancreatic enzymes, and complete blood count.[6]
