Sudden Changes in Temperature
Anything which irritates or changes the temperatures of the esophagus suddenly would also result in hiccups. This might be associated with the stimulation or irritation of the nerves which causes your diaphragm to contract. The major nerves are the vagus nerves and the phrenic nerves which are located near the esophagus. Consuming very hot or cold foods or drinks in a short time could stimulate these parts when you are swallowing. [5]
