10 Common Angina Treatments

Calcium channel blocker

Also known as calcium antagonists, they refer to a variety of drugs which can be used for cardiovascular issues. They work by preventing calcium for penetrating your heart cells which cause the constriction of blood vessels. This helps to relax these cells and lead to the dilation of the vessels, which is important in treating angina. There are three types of calcium blockers, including verapamil, diltiazem, and dihydropyridines. Calcium channel blockers are generally well-tolerated, but there might be some side effects which need to be watched out. These include ankle swelling, flushing, dizziness, or headache. [2]
