Tips for How to Get More REM Sleep

Early Sleep

The stages of REM sleep basically last longer in the morning. Therefore, you can extend your REM sleep by sleeping a bit earlier the night before. Try to go to sleep around 30 minutes earlier than usual. This can give you more time to sleep, which means more REM sleep. Make sure to be consistent with these new changes to your sleep schedule so that you may get enough time for each stage of sleep, particularly REM sleep. Otherwise, the body would attempt to compensate for the coming night, thus reducing the amount of REM sleep. [5]
