Swollen Feet and Ankles – Symptoms And Causes

Pregnancy

Swollen feet and ankles are not uncommon in pregnant women. During this period, the body tends to produce more fluids and blood as well as retain more water. Swelling is more prevalent at night, particularly after you spend most of the day on your feet. It is more noticeable from the 5th month until you give birth. To help manage or reduce swelling, try the following tips:

– Keep the feet elevated during a rest

– Avoid standing in an extended period

– Staying in a cool place during hot days

– Drink more water

– Put on comfortable shoes

– Wear supportive stockings or tights

– Reduce salt consumption [5]
