Interesting Facts about White Blood(Leukocyte)

5 types of white blood cells

In general, white blood cells can be divided into 5 types: basophils, eosinophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, and neutrophils. Each of them has different features and would be affected in many ways when you have a specific disease or condition. Monocytes are the biggest type and present in most tissue. They can digest pathogens and cells by engulfing them during phagocytosis. Lymphocytes produce some specialized proteins to counter pathogens. Basophils contain leukocytes, which can cause allergic responses in the body. Neutrophils contain granules that would destroy pathogens, while eosinophils are active during parasitic infections or allergic reactions. [4]
