How to Treat Chigger Bites at Home

Epsom Salt Bath

Epsom salt contains magnesium, a natural moisturizer with many anti-inflammatory properties. It may be effective in alleviating irritation, itching, and swelling in people with chigger bites. To use this home remedy, you simply add a cup of Epsom salt to a bathtub filled with water and soak the whole body. Try to do this for at least 30 minutes to get the best results. [7]

Aspirin

If you were bitten by chiggers, aspirin may help alleviate swelling, itching, and pain. Nevertheless, it should be wet to actually work. You can simply soak a pill of aspirin into water and then place it on the bitten area. Another option is to grind up the pill and add water to make a paste. Directly apply this paste to the affected area and wait until it dries to clean with water. Avoid using aspirin for children, especially when they had a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, stomach ulcer, kidney disease, or chronic liver.  [8]
