Shave Properly
There is no recommended direction to shave with acne and oily skin. Simply choose whatever direction that is most natural and comfortable to you. Keep in mind that facial hair does not grow in a single direction. If possible, do not pass over pimples. If you cannot avoid them, try shaving with light strokes. Even when the skin is not breaking out, use lighter force on the razor to prevent irritation and inflammation. [6]
Consider Trimming Instead of Shaving
In some cases, shaving may lead to a breakout of acne. If shaving carefully still leads to significant irritation or redness on the skin, consider using a trimmer instead of a razor. Trimming does not drag across the skin, which means there will be no friction burn that you may have with a razor. Although the results may not be ideal, but it can be a gentle treatment on your sensitive skin. If a breakout is relatively widespread, it would be not a good idea to shave around every pimple as well. [7]
