Intravenous Injection Procedure
Intravenous injections can be done at home. However, it should be done in clinical facilities, such as hospitals, physician’s offices, infusion centers, or clinics, to ensure safety and effectiveness. The procedure typically begins with the insertion of a needle into a vein in the arm. This needle is attached to a small tube connected to an IV bag with liquid medications or fluids, which will get into the bloodstream directly through the vein. You should be carefully monitored during this period to make sure the liquid is flowing properly. It takes around 30 minutes or longer to complete the injection, depending on the type of drug and speed. Once the bag is empty, the doctor will remove the needle. [4]
